I love living an adventurous life. For me, life is just one big adventure. I often reflect on the experiences that adventure brings to my life and how it stretches me beyond my limits.
In July 2021, my good friend turned 50 and for his birthday he wanted to hike 50+miles through the Sierra Nevada’s in California.
The Sierra’s are home to some of the most spectacular beauty in all creation. I love hiking, so of course I was going! It was an epic adventure: backpacking on a route that took us from North Lake to South Lake, through the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
This was a 5 day hike where we would be scaling 3 mountain passes, crossing numerous rivers, and camping out in the backcountry wilderness.
This hike was going to stretch me but I was well prepared.
I already had all the gear and had been frequently training on other local hiking trails. I knew this hike was going to stretch my limits because it was going to be the longest hike I have ever done as well as one of the more challenging ones. Plus carrying all the backpacking gear for 5 days is a physically tough challenge in itself.
I was ready to soak in every moment and all the beauty this adventure would bring.
The Hike Was Epic and Absolutely Beautiful Beyond Belief
So much natural beauty every step of the way: crystal blue green alpine lakes; flowing streams and roaring rivers; massive rock formations, creating nature’s perfect cathedrals; wild life, insects, and creatures of all kinds; flowers blossoming and great pine trees placed perfectly where they were intended to be; starry nights so clear you feel you can reach out and touch one with your hand; taking in breaths of fresh air while taking in the breathtaking views; one day thunderstorms, hail, and rain, and the next sunny, clear skies; everything unique and beautiful in their very own way.
Of course there was struggle, challenge, and physical suffering. But Ihardly noticed because I was living and loving every moment of the hike.
There were times when we were caught in thunderstorms at the top of the Bishop pass at 12k elevation. There were times I experienced fatigue and weariness. Then there were times when I felt energized and renewed, usually after a nice cold soak in the rivers or lakes.
I was able to take moments of solitude, but also had fun being with my friends; laughing and forming deeper bonds and connections.
For me, adventuring in nature helps me to reset. I am able to get grounded and recharged: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The Power of Community will transform your life quicker and faster than going at it alone.
So ask yourself:
Am I living a life of adventure in all areas?
How can I stretch myself beyond my limits in every area of my life?
Need help seeking answers to these questions?
Then my suggestion would be to become part of a community that calls you to live life adventurously.
