“And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”
-Colossians 2:10
Although this scripture is in reference to Jesus Christ, I believe that it can be applied to every man, of every faith, everywhere.
The main word I want to draw attention to is the word Complete. The Greek word for it is plēroō and the definition is: to make full, to fill up, and to be filled to the fullest; to accomplish and carry through to the end.
The idea of “in him” is powerful in itself. Because within each of us, we have the ability to truly live life to the fullest. And only when we begin to recognize this truth, can we begin on the path towards true success.
A Story of Failure
In my life, I have always aspired to be “successful.” I aspired to get good grades in school; I aspired to perform well in sports and other activities; I aspired to have good relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners; I aspired to make money and succeed in my work and business; I aspired to achieve success in one way or another.
In 2010, when I was 27 years old, I had a profound moment of self realisation. It happened as the result of a big relationship failure with my girlfriend at that time. We were several years into a strong relationship when I discovered that my girlfriend had been seeing another man.
This caused my world to come crashing down, as it would any man. I felt like I had failed. I felt depressed. I felt broken and empty. I had put so much energy and effort into aspiring to succeed, and yet I was blinded by my perception of what success was.
I didn’t realize that I was only causing pain and suffering for myself and others around me.
It caused me to go deep inside, to the core of my being.
The Way of Completeness
As time passed, I went on a spiritual journey to do the inner work on myself that would strengthen the core of who I am. That journey caused a transformation in the way I would live my life forever after.
My experience led me to a path of seeking God and the Divine Power within me.
Through much discipline of:
- Prayer and meditation
- Reading and studying spiritual practices
- Surrendering to the Spirit and power within me
- Loving my God and myself above all else
I was able to feel at peace with my experience as a human being, which created a wholeness and completeness within me.
Living Life to the Fullest
When you come to experience all the dimensions of who you are, in a way that fills you up, then you are successful. Living life fully in your:
- Health
- Relationships
- Mental
- Wealth
- Spiritual
- Adventure
You will know the joy in living life to the fullest when you take whole and complete action in these areas with 100% focus and intention.
The true key to being that whole and complete man is following through to the end and giving up.
Follow Through to the End
“The secret of life is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”
– Paulo Coelho
Too often men fail because they give up too soon or lack the will power to change and grow.
The best way I have been able to carry through to the end, in my quest to live life to my full potential and be the whole and complete man, is to surround myself with other men on the same journey.
Being part of a men’s community has helped me to be consistent and accountable to my inner-work transformation.
If you desire to experience whole-man success in all the Super Six dimensions of your life; then do not do it alone. Find your group, find your tribe, find your brotherhood that will support you, encourage you, challenge you and love you.
